And homerecipes is my little corner of the internet!
I launched homerecipes in the spring of 2017 while I was still working full‑time as a graphic designer in Austin, Texas. I’d spent most evenings scrolling through food blogs, dreaming of a place where I could share the quick, family‑friendly meals that kept my own kitchen humming. One rainy Saturday I filmed a 5‑minute video of my “one‑pan chicken‑and‑vegetable” dinner, uploaded it, and the rest just kind of happened.
Fast forward to today, and homerecipes reaches about 85,000 unique visitors each month. In 2020 I added a printable recipe index, and by 2022 the site’s “30‑Minute Meals” series had been downloaded over 12,000 times. I’ve also started a monthly newsletter (1,200 subscribers) and a small YouTube channel where I post step‑by‑step videos. The most rewarding part? Seeing a comment from a reader in Boise who tried my “spicy mango salsa” and served it at a family reunion.
When I’m not behind a laptop or a cutting board, I’m living in a modest bungalow with my husband, Mark, and our two rescue cats, Luna and Basil. We love Saturday morning hikes in the Hill Country and Sunday afternoon board‑game marathons. My favorite things are fresh basil, a good espresso, and the sound of a skillet sizzling. If you ever swing by Austin, grab me for a coffee and I’ll gladly trade you my secret for a good story.
